Overview
TREE (theatre for reform education and entertainment) is an independent cultural wing of Ujaas. Ujaas believe in celebration of life. It is a multi-disciplinary social organization dedicated to community dialogue, social justice and personal transformation, through socio- cultural participatory activities, experiential workshops, performances, and other creative events. Ujaas primarily uses theatre as a tool for communicating information across a range of sectors, to bring about attitudinal and behavioral change, and changes in thought style.
To achieve these foresaid goals TREE explores how knowledge is produced, used and interpreted within and across different contexts, channels and cultures.
TREE design and executes educational theatre among children, youth, teachers, would be teachers and various working groups for a very long time in the form of performance of plays, workshops, discussions and various other art forms.
TREE also uses theatre to analyze, discuss and identify problems and to seek solutions with the participation of the community affected by the specific problems. It uses theatre as a tool for development. It builds upon the culture and traditions such as the community theatre, forum theatre, and social drama.
TREE strives to produce plays that explore issues of educational, social, cultural and political relevance. TREE uses the unique power and magic of the theatre to ask difficult questions about the world we live in, examining the forces that influence what we believe and why. TREE dares to dramatize complex and controversial issues with artistic integrity and fairness.
